After studying under Marshall Rosenberg in 2005, Mercedes Frace realized that NVC is crucial to social change, inner & outer harmony.  Mercedes has enthusiastically been learning more about NVC at deeper levels, studying among a myriad of trainers with an aim of becoming a CNVC certified trainer.   She has been organizing, educating, and mediating using the tools of NVC for four years with a passion for working with youth and within underserved communities.  In 2002 Mercedes co-founded a nonprofit for home- and wholistic-learners based on the works of Leidloff, Holt, Chilton-Pearce & Taylor-Gatto.  In 2007 she turned her focus to Sarasota's Peace Education & Action Center where she remains an active board member.  Mercedes has been vital to the existence of Suncoast NVC and growth of NVC in Florida through her multiple trainings... she now is involved in the Americas Circle of the NVC Global Circle Community.

Mercedes' areas of passion include conflict resolution, community building skills, organization of NVC trainings, and teaching NVC.  Her key interests include aspects of Sociocracy, Open Space Technology, partnership paradigms as well as Nonviolent Communication skills.  Mercedes has worked in health care administration for 22 years, is a language specialist, certified herbalist, owner of Compassionflower Communications, mother, and now working collaboratively on her first book.  She also volunteers as a programmer at WSLR and is a member of the Coalition for Inclusion & Diversity.  More recently she is interested in Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) work with a vision of working in prisons and transition systems.

Today, Mercedes Frace offers group training, personal skills coaching and mediation services in NVC and compassionate leadership.  She faciliatates NVC Workshops around Florida; she is a Recognized Regional NVC Practitioner and is involved with the Southeast Alliance for NVC.

Mark

Mark Thielmann is a registered NVC trainer candidate living in St. Pete.  He is married to Linda, father of three, and works as a Child Protective Investigator for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

In both work and family, Mark has witnessed many types of communication that have, at times, been less than desirable- especially in the social service arena where families are involved.  About 3 years ago, he discovered Nonviolent Communication, and began his own personal journey, seeking out a means of communicating and connecting with people that offered a bridge to peace instead of conflict...and to healing rather than separation.  Mark has completed 200 hours of studies with certified trainers including Diana Lyons, Gregg Kendrick, Wes Taylor, Susan Skye, John Kinyon, Dominic Barter and Marshall Rosenberg.  His vision is to be involved in restorative justice work as well as work with organizations and non profits seeking to have a greater quality of connection among coworkers, so conflicts can be successfully mediated, creating a new openness for continued dialogue.  In addition, Mark is a homeschooling dad and provides a "Compassionate Kids Club" group during the local homeschool cooperative day of classes and also provides an ongoing NVC practice group at First Unity Church in St Petersburg.

LoraKim Joyner has been celebrating how to grow peace with Nonviolent Communication ever since the outbreak of the Iraq War in 2003.  Though she couldn't stop violence at the international level (not yet), she yearns to grow peace in her heart with every breath in and out.  She facilitates workshops, mostly with congregations around Florida, especially in her tradition of UnitarianUniversalism.  She hosts monthly facilitated telephone conference calls for animal activists around the country, and social activists in the Unitarian Universalist tradition. (see www.uua.org/ufeta and www.uuspeakpeace.org/web.  Her hope is to journey with others in living life giving compassionate relationships with all beings.
